Going to my brother's graduation in Manchester. What does the UK visitor visa require and cost?
Apply online at gov.uk under Standard Visitor visa. The fee was 115 pounds from April 2024 for a six-month visa; check gov.uk for the current fee. After paying, you book a biometrics appointment at the TLScontact centre in Lagos or Abuja.
Documents that decide most Nigerian applications: six months of bank statements showing regular income and enough money for the trip, proof of a job or business you will return to, the invitation and your host's status in the UK, and evidence of previous travel if any. A cover letter explaining the trip helps.
Standard processing is three weeks but can run longer in busy months. Never submit doctored bank statements; a fraud finding brings a ten-year ban.
