Fresh passport application in Nigeria. What are the official fees and the real waiting time?

As of the September 2024 fee change by the Nigeria Immigration Service, the 32-page five-year passport costs 50,000 naira and the 64-page ten-year passport costs 100,000 naira when applied for inside Nigeria. Overseas applications are priced in dollars.

The process: apply and pay on passport.immigration.gov.ng, pick a passport office and book a date, go for biometric capture with your NIN and old passport or birth certificate, then wait for collection. Two to six weeks is common; Lagos and Abuja offices are often slower than smaller state offices, and some offices now offer an enhanced e-passport with a shorter wait.

Pay only on the portal. Touts at the gate charge more and cannot make it faster. Check immigration.gov.ng for the current fees.
