I have never done NIN enrolment. What do I take with me, where do I go, and does it cost money?
Go to any NIMC enrolment centre or a licensed NIMC front-end partner. Many banks, phone shops and local government offices act as agents; the list of centres is on nimc.gov.ng.
Take one document that proves who you are: a birth certificate, voter card, passport, driver's licence, or a court declaration of age. You fill the form, they capture your fingerprints and photo, and you leave with a slip carrying a tracking ID. The NIN itself is usually ready within a few days, sometimes weeks.
Enrolment at NIMC centres is free. Agents may charge a small service fee for their time, and printing an improved NIN slip costs a few hundred naira. To see your NIN on a phone that is already linked, dial *346# (a small charge applies).
Confirm the current process with NIMC before you go, because centres and fees change.
