I live in the UK and my passport expires in five months. Can I renew at the High Commission and what does it cost?

Yes. Renewal abroad goes through the same portal, passport.immigration.gov.ng, where you choose the embassy or high commission nearest you, pay in dollars, and book a capture appointment. Most missions ask for the old passport, proof of residence and the payment receipt.

As posted on the portal in 2024, overseas fees were 150 dollars for the 32-page five-year book and 230 dollars for the 64-page ten-year book. Missions also charge a small courier or service fee.

Waiting time at missions in London, Washington and other big cities can be several weeks; check the mission's own website for its rules on postal returns and emergency travel certificates.
