Cannot afford a 500,000 naira bootcamp. Where can I learn software or data skills properly for little or nothing?
Free and proven: freeCodeCamp (web development), Harvard's CS50 (fundamentals), the Google and Coursera scholarship cohorts that open every year, ALX Africa (free or heavily subsidised programmes), and the federal 3MTT programme, which trained people free in 2024 and 2025 and reopens in cohorts.
Paid but instalment-friendly: AltSchool Africa and Utiva. Decagon takes a share of salary after placement instead of fees up front.
Whatever you pick, finish two real projects and put them on GitHub. Employers here test what you can build, not the certificate. Be wary of any school that guarantees a job; none can.
