Employer says the minimum wage is 30,000 naira. Is that still correct?

No. The National Minimum Wage Act 2024 set the minimum at 70,000 naira a month from July 2024, with a review every three years. Some states pay more; Lagos announced 85,000. The law applies to employers with 25 or more workers, so very small firms are outside it, but many still follow it.

The NYSC allowance moved with it to 77,000 naira a month in 2025.

If you are on the old 30,000 figure at a qualifying employer, raise it with HR first and then with the state Ministry of Labour. Confirm the current figures with the Ministry of Labour and the NYSC portal.
